Boschi Building

This palace belonged to the Boschi family, wealthy landowners, whose last representative, Don Lorenzo Boschi, at the end of his life, decided to leave all his assets to establish a foundation for the public good.

The Pia Fondazione Boschi (also known as Opera Pia Boschi) was established on July 28, 1889, one year after the priest's death.

Initially, the foundation had various charitable purposes, including the construction and maintenance of a hospital based in Subbiano, which began its operations in 1909. Later, in 1928, the assets of Opera Pia were significantly increased by Rodolfo di Giacinto Subiani, who, in memory of his brother Alfredo, bequeathed the four estates in Pilli to the foundation, with the aim of using their income for the proper functioning of the hospital.

The assets grew by 500%, reaching one million lire, and in 1935, during the reform of Opera Pia's statute, the Foundation's Council decided that, 'out of a sense of due gratitude to this last benefactor,' the Foundation would be named 'Pia Fondazione Boschi-Subiano' from then on.

Inside the Boschi palace, a beautiful Annunciation is preserved, presumably attributable to a student of Piero della Francesca.
